Well, if you don’t want to replace the magazine cap and install a swivel stud in the butt, you have only one option.
Buy a sling intended for use on muzzle-loaders. The front of the sling has a thong that is simply tied around the barrel and the other end has a cuff that is laced on tightly to secure it.
It might not look too pretty on a pump shotgun, but in my experience they work well with front-stuffers.
The top sling is one very much like the one I use, and the third Universal sling is another possibility.

Mikes makes a sling specifically for the 870, It has a replacement magazine cap. The other end slips over the butt stock so that you don’t have to drill a hole in the butt stock. They are about $30 with sling from what I remember. I don’t think the sling is replaceable.
Edit: I did a quick search and was not able to find one for an 870. It may have been a brand other than Uncle Mikes. or they may not be produced anymore. I believe that I have seen them in a Cabelas store.
I simply buy a strip of leather about the thickness of a belt and an inch and a half wide; then split the ends; five inches on one and eight on the other. Tie one around the barrel in front of the slide tube and the other around the buttstock just behind the pistol grip; works like a dream.

The basic Remington 870 does not come with sling attach points. If you want to be crude about it, you can get a basic, web sling and put one end around the stock behind the trigger guard and the other end around the magazine, but I don’t recommend it.
Just about everyone and their brother makes aftermarket sling swivels for the 870. They’re not hard to install if you’re at all handy. Just Google Remington 870 sling swivels or Remington 870 accessories.
